Vicente Ordóñez Román

Research Lead

Vicente has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has held visiting research positions at the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence, Adobe Research, and Amazon Alexa AI. He has led the vision, language and learning lab since the Fall 2016.
Paola Cascante-Bonilla

PhD Student

Paola holds an engineering degree from the Tecnológico de Costa Rica and ten years of experience as a Software Engineer. Her work has focused on interactive learning, semi-supervised learning and large scale visual recognition with fewer labels. She has interned with the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab and Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories.
Jefferson Hernandez

Jefferson obtained his undergraduate engineering degree in Industrial Engineering from ESPOL in Ecuador and has been studying how to improve the visual representations learned by deep neural networks using self-supervised training from videos.

Catherine obtained her undergraduate degree from City University of Hong Kong and has been pursuing work on training models for visual grounding using data augmentation with Large Language Models.
Moayed Haji Ali

Moayed obtained his undergraduate degree from Koç University in Turkey and is currently focused on generative AI models based on conditional diffusion models to improve their capabilities with minimal effort by exploiting their properties.
Jaywon Koo

PhD Student

Jaywon obtained her undergraduate degree at Ewha Womans University in South Korea and her MS degree at Columbia University. She has been working on multimodality, depth estimation and neuro-symbolic hybrid models for visual question answering and beyond.
Zilin Xiao

PhD Student

Zilin has a bachelor degree from Sichuan University. He has been working on Named Entity Recognition and Visual Entity Recognition by leveraging Large Multimodal Models with constrained decoding. He has had internships at Sensetime Research, MEGVII and Microsoft.
Aman Shrivastava

Aman holds a bachelor degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, and an MS in Data Science from the University of Virginia. He combines machine learning for vision, language and medical imaging. He is currently mostly advised by Tom Fletcher at the University of Virginia.
